The title of Shyamalan’s next film

This update is according to the Mainline Media News. In their article, they are stating that  M.Night Shyamalan’s next film which is starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith is now titled, ‘After Earth.’ The project was previously called, ‘One Thousand A.E.’

The Mainline Media News article also divulges that Shyamalan was recently at the Valley Forge Military Academy for some research purposes, because Jaden Smith will play a military cadet of the future in the film. Small updates like this makes me excited, because Shyamalan keeps things very secret when it comes his films, but I am not sure about the new title though. And your minds might be wondering why there is a question mark under the title in the image.

The reason I put the question mark, for in their article, Mainline Media News states that director of such famous films as, “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbroken.”  By stating ‘Unbroken’ they mean Shyamalan’s “Unbreakable.”  This has left me confused. I am not sure if ‘After Earth’ is officially the new title of the film.

And according to an article published at Philadelphia’s 102.9 WMGK site , 50% of the filming will take place at the new Sun Center Studios in Delaware County (Chester Township). It will be the first major feature film to shoot there. Other locations will be in Costa Rica, Utah and Northern California.

Check back here soon for the official updates. The film is going to open on June 7. 2013.

Shyamalan, Nolan, Favreau & Tarantino joins the fight against Premium VOD

Beginning in April 2011, several studios teamed up with cable provider to offer their films two months after they hit theaters for the price of $29.95 which irritated the filmmakers and the theaters owners. Now,  M.Night Shyamalan, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino and David Dobkin, along with The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal and producer Jim Cardwell, formerly president of Warner Home Video has joined the battle against the Premium Video On Demand.

The National Association Of Theatre Owners prepared an April open letter which was signed by these filmmakers slamming DirectTV’s Home Premiere Premium Video On Demand offering. According to Hollywood Reporter James Cameron topped the list of original signatories to the letter, which argues shortening the theatrical window is a detriment to moviegoing experience.

And no one is sure as of yet how the service is doing, but there is buzz that the service has fallen flat among the consumers. No one from DirectTV or these four studios has spoken yet. The latest films offered include Fox’s Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, Warner Bros’ Sucker Punch and Sony’s Battle: Los Angeles.

Some sources are claiming that the four studios are working to repair their relations and that their efforts are paying off. Still, both sides decline to comment.

Will Smith is wanted by Quentin Tarantino

It was announced few weeks ago that Will Smith will not only be producing, but starring next to his son Jaden in M.Night Shyamalan’s new sci-fi untitled project which is written by Gary Whitta and Mr. Shyamalan himself. But let’s put that aside now, for they are still working on it. You will be updated on that here.

Now Mr. Shyamalan’s main actor, mega star and talented Will Smith is also wanted by Quentin Tarantino for a project that Mr. Tarantino has written. He calls it, ‘Django Unchained.’ The screenplay has been making hollywood rounds for weeks and one of the leads is Mr. Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Basterds’ Academy Award winning star, Christoph Waltz who is playing Dr. King Schultz.

Mr. Tarantino claims that he wrote the screenplay with Will Smith in mind. The story centers on a slave turned bounty hunter on a mission to rescue his wife Broomhilda from her sadistic slavemaster. And insiders are claiming that Will Smith is willing to work, for he’s been looking for edgier roles. Mr. Tarantino stated that he also offered a juicy supporting role to Brad Pitt who decided to not pursue the role at this time.

Mr. Tarantino does not have any distributors yet, but it seems like Harvey Weistein is going to be handling the project, for they have been handling Tarantino’s previous films. Looks like Will Smith’s plate will be full for three next years as he is signed to work with Mr. Shyamalan, in Bary Sonnefeld’s Men In Black 3 and now ‘Django Unchained’. Which film of Will Smith are you looking forward to the most?
